As the title states it looks like I've finally hit that huge milestone craved by so many budding artists in this community. I can honestly say that I am nothing but humbled that so many of you have decided that I was worthy enough to take note of. If you would have told me two years ago, that I was going to have this sort of following on Deviant-Art, I would have called you a liar, and insulted your mother's good name. I am honestly still trying to come to grips with this whole thing. I've had the stupidest grin on my face all day, and I have no-one to blame for it but all of you.
I do not consider myself a great artist by any standards. I have no real formal training, and have never been able to draw anything other than stick figures my entire life. However, when this show came around it sort of lit a fire under my ass, and gave me inspiration to pick up a pencil for the first time in an insanely long time, and draw something. I still have a folder filled with all of my first sketches made from this show. They're all god awful, but they're all still here. Every once in awhile I crack open that binder sitting in the corner of my desk, and see how far I've come. I can still remember pausing the show back in October of 2011, and trying my hardest to sketch out the scene, learn the anatomy, and try and understand lighting and shading. I can't say I've learned all that much in these two years, but I've sure had a hell of a time doing it.
For those who didn't know, art is not a projected career choice for me. I do not expect to ever sell anything of mine, nor charge people for drawing something. I do this purely to relax, and enjoy the show for all its detail and splendor. Over the years I have had little time to actually partake in it, due to my ACTUAL career training in the sciences, but even today I still get those sudden urges to put down the textbook, sit down at my desk, pull up the graphics tablet, and draw for hours on end.
So, with all of my heart [/Cheesy line], I would like to say thank you. Thank you to all of you who have decided to endure my long gaps in art and somewhat dodgy design style. Thank you to the insanely talented show staff, and to all the bloggers/groups that have supported my work. Thank you to all of you who have left such heart-warming comments on my pieces, and thank you to all of my watchers; who help to inspire me to keep drawing even when I'm at my worst.
